Description
Literature of Crisis, 1910-22 provides a close reading of four important literary texts of the Howards End, Heartbreak House, Women in Love, and The Waste Land. Placing them in their historical and cultural context, the author considers these texts of differing genres as expressions of the sense of crisis in English life that partly anticipated and largely coincided with the First World War. Although not dealing specifically with war, they register a response to wartime events or events leading up to or following the war.
