In an attempt to stimulate the debate over the international debt crisis, the Centre for Banking and International Finance organized two conferences where central bankers, representatives of financial institutions, and economists, discussed the problems. The resulting papers presented here discuss the role of central banks and international monetary institutions in averting a financial crash.
