The Fractional Quantum Hall Effect: Properties of an Incompressible Quantum Fluid (Springer Series in Solid-State Sciences)

There have been tremendous theoretical and experimental developments in recent years in the field of the fractional quantum Hall effect. This monograph presents a general survey of most of the theoretical work and also provides details of formal steps which are often avoided in the publications. A brief review of the experimental results on the excitation gap is also presented. This compilation, although by no means exhaustive, should suggest guidelines to experts for further work and encourage nonexperts to explore the field.
